Text Box: However, what we lacked in attendance was more than offset by the fun and fellowship that was shared. Tours of local attractions plus a bountiful supply of food, made for a fine rally.
Our next campout will be from January 23rd to the 27th, at the 1015 RV Park in Weslaco Texas. We hope to escape some of the colder and bask in the sun in the Rio Grande Valley.

DISTRICT #8

Straddlers - Chapter 47

We had a great time at the District 8-14 Rally in Colorado Springs.
In October we met at Haworth Park in Beleuve, Nebraska. Everyone brought chili which was all put together in a big electric roaster. Also served were crackers, cornbread, deviled eggs and salads. Very tasty desserts topped off the meal. The ladies made small turkeys for the residents of the Nebraska Masonic Home.
Another camping season has just ended and the rigs are going into storage. We still look forward to our monthly lunches during the winter months.

Central Iowa Travel Masters - Chapter 144

Our AUGUST campout was held at Eldora at the Pine Lake State Park with Wilbur/Joy Muller hosting. Ten units participated with former members Peggy/Howard Hockert & Fern/Dean Wiarada coming in one day to tour with the group. After welcoming coffee which Joyce Hakeman and Shirley Kunzman helped with, the group toured Whink Products and then on to visit the Wall Mural in the Methodist Church in Eldora which is all done with plaster. It took the artist 4 weeks to complete and the consensus was that it was “awesome.” The Chapel on the Hill was visited next which features worship services each Sunday. The next day was spent at the Eagle City Winery, the Steamboat Rock School House for lunch and then a tour of the house of Stained Glass in Steamboat Rock where this picture was taken. Standing in the group to the left is Keith/Janice Reason, Wilbur/Joy Muller & Shirley/Charley Kunzman. The group to the right—in the front row is Marge Haines & Marian Freed. Second row—Annabelle/Ray Chamberlin, Howard/Peggy Hockert. Back row—Bill Haines, Flip/Glen Wilson, Joyce/Glen Hakeman & Bob Freed. It seems that Grundy Center was to have a closeout sale at the only clothing store in town so several of the women had to go shopping to get some good bargains. As Joy Muller said, “Grundy Center is a lot richer because of our campout.” The Mullers planned a great campout.
Our SEPTEMBER campout was held at Marshalltown with 11 units attending & Charley/Shirley Kunzman & Jim/Joan McMurrin hosting. Ken/Joan Sheppard also helped with cookies for the welcoming coffee. We toured the Lillie Mae Chocolate Store where we got to see different candies being made and then we were each given a small box of chocolates - yummy! The Big Tree House was toured at the Shady Oaks RV Campground ad it was fantastic. It is a 12-story tree house and was decorated for Halloween. Another wonderful campout.
Eight units showed up for our Clear Lake campout in OCTOBER with Keith/Janice Reason & Flip/Glen Wilson hosting. We had a wonderful meal on Monday night prepared by the Reasons. Tuesday was welcoming coffee with cake & ice cream furnished by the Wilson's to celebrate Glen’s recent birthday. In the afternoon, we played Card Bingo with the winners receiving white elephant gifts that everyone had contributed. That evening we had an elaborate meal served to us at Dad’s Town Pump Restaurant in Clear Lake with a business meeting following the dinner. The 2006 camping books were handed out by Ray and he also reported on the District 8 & 14 Rally in Monument, Colorado. Twenty-seven rigs were present and the weather was a pleasant 70-80 degrees. Side trips were available and one highlight of the Chamberlins trip was when Ray won the grand prize and opened the envelope to find a $100 dollar bill inside. Ray reported that the 2006 District Rally would be held in September in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Wednesday, we had a wonderful fish fry with the fish being caught by Keith and was fried by Keith & Bill and the potluck dishes were fantastic as always. The weather changed direction while we were there but that didn’t stop the campers from enjoying all the activities. A very relaxing campout.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
See you next April at the Newton Rolling Acres Campground.

North Star Travelers - Chapter 201

We had twelve rigs at our August campout in Duluth. Brother Ken Kobs reported that at the National we received a ‘President’s Award of Excellence’ as a result of our new members taken in this past year. Three members of our Chapter were appointed to National Committees representing District 8. Ron (Polly) Robbins is Goodwill Ambassador, Ken (Beverly) Kobs is on the Membership Committee, and Paul (Luella) Janos is on the Nominating Committee. We know that these dedicated members will serve well on these committees.
